About the Contributor

Dr. Murillo-Gelvez investigates the fate of anthropogenic pollutants in the environment. His research focuses on understanding the factors that control the degradation of contaminants under natural and engineered conditions and modeling the rates at which these processes occur. In his past work, he investigated the kinetics of reduction of munitions compounds by dissolved organic matter under intrinsic and chemically enhanced conditions. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher investigating the fate of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) through a combination of experimental and computational approaches.
