Dr. Chu is an Associate Professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU).  Dr. Chu’s research interest is in environmental biotechnologiy for addressing challenges in water, soil, and energy.  Dr. Chu has extensive experience on biodegradation and bioremediation of various pollutants including priority organic pollutants (such as chlorinated compounds, PAHs, and BTEX)  and emerging contaminants (such as  explosives,  1,4-dioxane, endocrine disrupting compounds, pharmaceutical and personal care products, and perfluorinated compounds).  Her research also extends to nutrient removal, pathogen detection, and bioenergy production.
