Dr. Richardson is an Environmental Engineer with GSI with over eleven years of combined academic, research, and consulting experience in soil and groundwater remediation, environmental site investigation, engineering design, and research and development. Dr. Richardson is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana, North Carolina, and Alberta, Canada. He holds a doctoral degree in environmental engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.S. degree from Louisiana State University, and a B.A.Sc. degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Richardson specializes in the application of bioremediation strategies to treat recalcitrant compounds in soil, groundwater, and surface water at a range of contaminated sites, including former manufactured gas plants, munitions facilities, gas stations, and oil/gas refineries. Prior to joining GSI in 2013, Dr. Richardson served as Principal Investigator for DoD-sponsored research projects on anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated solvent DNAPL and cometabolic biodegradation of 1,4-Dioxane. He also managed the development and commercialization of bioremediation products including a biologically-active shear-thinning fluid for treatment of residual chlorinated solvents in the vadose zone. Currently, Dr. Richardson serves as the technical lead for a multi-year, multi-component research project examining the environmental effects of shale gas operations, specifically air emissions, stray gas events, and flowback/produced water.
